A series of new equipment investments is boosting aluminum manufacturer Elval's capacity, quality and cost performance.
A new Globus pre-treatment line upgrades Elval's capacity for chemically treated material for packaging and for general industrial products. New ovens allow for more annealing of oversized coils that weigh up to 31 tons each, which also cuts down on scrap materials.
A new IMS high-speed multi-slitter line offers precision slices and slits in brazing products and tubes designed for the automotive market. An edger was also added to a hot rolling mill to cut down on scrap as well.
“The last few years investment plans have been implemented at the Oinofyta plant which aim to increase capacity, optimize quality, extend the product portfolio, protect the environment and enhance productivity,” Lambros Varouchas, Elval's general manager, said. "Those new investments bring significant benefits for our customers, while reducing our environmental footprint.”
More upgrades are in the works as the company awaits a new stretcher for plates and new aluminum casting equipment.
Elval has seven production plants in Greece and exports to more than 80 countries.
