The Greek Defense Ministry announced yesterday that a new special payroll for armed forces, set to be voted on within the coming months, does not freeze wage increases, and will result in no loss of pay to active and retired members of the military.
A notice issued in September stated that a review or vote will be taken early this year, and a new special payroll will be instituted. The notice emphasized that "no change to the remuneration of Armed Forces personnel" would take place.
"The new wage does not provide any kind of wage freeze promotions for officers of the Armed Forces, comprising the economic levels that were established and (there will be) absolutely no reduction in salary to active and retired military," the announcement said.
