The government of Greece has issued a request for proposal for an independent engineering firm to consult on projects within the Port of Piraeus, the country’s largest port.
The RFP, or Call for Tender, was announced Dec. 23, 2016.
“The geographic location of the Port of Piraeus makes it a vital transportation, trade and supply, tourism and communications hub connecting the Greek islands with the mainland, as well as being an international centre of marine tourism and the commercial carriage of goods,” according to the original document.
The project’s scope includes expansion and repair of specific structures, supply of equipment, construction of a new pier and other “infrastructure improvements,” as specified in Table 2.4.2 in the RFP.
Firms eligible for the project must satisfy certain conditions, including meeting economic criteria, avoidance of conflicts of interest and provide a 10 percent guarantee of the whole project up front, according to Paragraph 5.1.4.2.
